ARTIST STATEMENT

My monoprint and digital collages explore the sensitive interconnections between surfaces, shapes, and their textures. The basic geometric shapes contain vibrant colors that are housed in symmetrical shapes, creating a constant movement and a changing environment. The careful observer begins to discover the delicate surfaces that lie hidden among the many layers of colored inks, all layered into one final piece. The rich patinas and woven surfaces magnetically draw one into each image. These images have a strong reference to landscapes. The complexity of the overlapping shapes, intricate patterns, and strong use of color bring to life a strength that lives within the community of these images.
