Cerulean Arts presents A Printmaking Constellation, curated by Tony Rosati, Professor of Printmaking at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA). The exhibition features the work of five stellar printmakers selected by Rosati each working in a different printmaking medium. Justine Ditto’s robust color lithographs straddle the weblike lines between abstraction and representation. Caren Friedman’s collagraphs of Alaskan rocks in various combinations presented against a stark white ground five them both a human and otherworldly quality. Hayley Murphy’s graphic serigraphs use simple paper stencils to express her affinity for geometry, shape, repetition, pattern and color. Kaela Pinizzotto’s small-scale wood engravings of landscape demonstrate her deeply felt interest in light through intimate and evocative dark tonalities. Raffi Zarzatian’s intaglio and watercolor ethings reference his eastern European and Middle Eastern heritage, as well as his love for animals. Curator Rosati’s large monotypes, drawn from his aquarium series, are rich in color and texture with a whimsical touch.
