Elizabeth Stricker
ARTIST STATEMENT
My inspiration comes from both my imagination and how I feel about current events and daily events in my own life. Color is the most expressive tool in my arsenal, but shape, placement, and juxtaposition is also essential to creating a story. The color gradation techniques I have worked out allow me a more nuanced expression of an idea. Though the images are abstract, it is clear that the earth and water play a significant role in my compositions. The cellular (origin, aging?) is ever present as well. Certain images and shapes are recurring; they have some significance to me, though I have yet to discover what.
