ARTIST STATEMENT

As an artist, I find that half of my practice involves just going outside, sitting still and witnessing the perfect order of the natural world.

BIO

Martha Kent Martin earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts with a concentration in printmaking and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Tyler School of Art as a Metalsmithing major. She has also studied with the Gemological Institute of America and the DeMazia Trust at the Barnes Foundation and Villanova University. She has worked as a professional jeweler since 1979 and has been teaching all levels of jewelry making since 1986. Her work has been shown locally, regionally and nationally. Recent exhibitions include the American Color Print Society, the Clay Studio, the State Museum of Pennsylvania, Art in City Hall, Abington Art Center and the Cosmopolitan Club of Philadelphia.
